Biography

Former U.S. Poet Laureate Billy Collins was born in New York City in 1941. One of North America’s most popular poets, Collins’ witty, charming, and accessible poems have won him an unusually large audience for the world of contemporary poetry. Collins is a professor of English at Lehman College, City University of New York, Writer in Residence at Sarah Lawrence College, and he appears regularly on National Public Radio in the United States.
