Biography

Probably Scotland’s favourite poet, Robert Burns (1759-1796) continues to be celebrated around the world. Though he often wrote in the Scottish dialect, he also wrote poetry in standard English, and his song “Auld Lang Syne” — which begins “Should auld acquaintance be forgot…” — is a New Year’s Eve tradition.
